Hangouts: The Breakfast Club

By Nanjiba Misbah

In this Hangouts entry I’ll be recommending a brunch place, where you can have breakfast at any time during the day: the Breakfast Club. It’s a family business with brunch, lunches, evening meals and an excellent selection of coffees, smoothies, cocktails and beers. A brunch that has a lot of impressive achievements: a three star SRA score (2017); Casual Dining Community Award (2017); the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work for (2016); and Best Large Independent Restaurant Employer (2013).

Restaurant locations include Angel, Soho, Croydon, London Bridge, Brighton and Oxford; each one has a unique design which serves to create an eighties-inspired, nostalgic feel. They also have a number of “dirty little secret bars”. Today I discuss the bright yellow junkyard themed Soho branch on D’Arblay Street, which is conveniently situated in between Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus tube stations. Depending on how confident you are with Google Maps, I would suggest going as a group or together with a friend, since Soho is quite a confusing place to navigate alone. Also as a warning the restaurant is quite busy, so expect to be waiting in a queue for quite a while.

As for the food you have an array of delicious options to choose from, such as breakfast burritos, hash, bennies, toast, oats and fruit, and pancakes. When I went, I had a latte and the veggie all-American pancakes, eggs, veggie sausage, mushrooms, homestyle potatoes and maple syrup, all just for £10.50. My friend had Reggie the Veggie which consisted of veggie sausages, eggs, homestyle fried potatoes, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, beans and a toasted multigrain bloomer for £9.50. I really enjoyed my food. You definitely get what you pay for: a deliciously filling meal. The service is excellent; they were quite quick with taking orders and it didn’t take long for food to arrive. Below are some pictures of what we had:

If you feel like going somewhere different for brunch, with the same menu but a unique design at each location, then the Breakfast Club is perfect for you! For more information go to their website.
