What did you study and when did you graduate?
I studied Media & Communications and graduated in summer 2017.
What did you do as a CEN8 volunteer?
As a volunteer I was part of the video team, helping to plan, film and edit promotional material – in particular I was responsible for contributing to the student volunteer of the month videos.
What was the most useful thing you learnt by being a volunteer?
I learnt the importance of trying to look ahead with foresight and recognise the value of doing stuff outside a degree and giving up your time.
What was the best thing about volunteering?
A chance to practice skills and knowing it’s making a difference to the team and to Cen8’s mission. Lots of Kit Kats too.
What have you been up to since leaving Goldsmiths?
I luckily got recruited as an intern by Discovery Communications after graduating, and am still here six months on. I worked mainly in compliance editing and scheduling, but am now helping out Discovery Eurosport on their setup for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
Has/how volunteering for CEN8 impacted on you since you left?
I’ve barely had time to reflect on university since graduating, but the extra experience and positive boost CEN8 gave me has definitely had an impact even so!
What career advice would you students currently at university?
Try lots of activities and roles out while there is a chance – plenty of time to worry about exams and work. But also make the most of opportunities and commit, as you never know where it’ll lead
